So as many of you know, I'm a sports writer. As many of you also know, I'm a Miami Dolphins fan.
So, I have a weekly column that's published on Saturdays. When I came in this morning, I had 18 emails in my inbox. Anyways, here's the article (called "Same ole' Jags):
Some teams are fine being mediocre. Count the Jacksonville Jaguars as one of those teams.
For years, the Jaguars have made decisions that have left me scratching my head. This year, the franchise isn’t doing anything different.
As free agency has its wildest year in over a decade, the Jaguars are sitting back like they just came off a Super Bowl Championship. Instead of trying to make a splash by signing a player that could help Jacksonville move back into the playoffs, the Jaguars have picked up other team’s leftovers.
Try to think of the last big-name free agent the Jaguars signed. It may take a minute. You may finish your morning cup of coffee before finding that answer.
The franchise has tried to brainwash fans into thinking names such as Jerry Porter could be the difference that makes Jacksonville a threat. What’s Porter doing now?
I’ll give you a second to think about that.
That’s just one of the many blunders by the front office of Jacksonville, however, and we all know what the biggest blunder can be attributed to.
With many rumors of the Jags possibly moving to the west coast, one name could have filled the stands every Sunday.
He was a local product. He’s of good moral fiber and he is one of the most storied players in college football history. In short, Tim Tebow was a lock.
The community would have bought into the mania that Tebow carries. Instead, the Jaguars drafted a defensive tackle with a name that many fans can’t pronounce.
The franchise is back at it again this offseason. They’ve drafted a quarterback out of Missouri, with no local ties, and given incumbent quarterback David Garrard another couple of years to drag the team through mediocrity.
A team in need of an offensive threat to pair with Maurice Jones-Drew, the Jaguars instead have went after such big-name free agents as Paul Poslusny, Clint Session and Dawan Landry.
Maybe they’ll be the answer. Then again, maybe they’ll be another Jerry Porter and sign with the Montreal Allouettes.
And here are some of the responses....

You are fucking retarded. Tebow is shit and won't amount to anything in the NFL. Just cause he talks like you, thinks like you, don't mean he talks or thinks like me or a whole swath of professional football fans in Jacksonville, namely the ones with average to above-average intelligence. See, if you can't understand how Gabbert is an infinitely better professional football prospect than the jump-passing jesusfreak, than you ought not to write about this kind of shit. Cause you are fucking retarded. Why don't you try watching a NFL season for once and get a handle on the various processes that go on instead of thinking you being a gatorhomer qualifies you to talk shit and whine about the best thing going on in Jacksonville. You are petty and ignorant--point of fact. Eat a dick.

Your article of July 29 about the Jaguars is pure garbage. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
Sincerely.
Martin Smith
Obviously you don't know the first thing about football... You better stick to covering pop warner out there in LAKE SHITTY! Is this the only way you can get people to read your drivel is to play on the emotions of people who don't like football already. Have fun with your carreer in cow shit country because thats all you'll ever do, ASSHOLE!
Jessie Cole
Nice article on the Jags. Just kidding. That was one of the dumbest things I've ever read.
Graham Wright
You are one stupid sports writer. That article is by far the dumbest thing I've ever read. You obviously don't know anything about Gene Smith and the Jaguars. Why would the Jaguars draft Tim Tebow? Sure he's got local ties. But your missing the big picture. Sure drafting Tebow would sell out the stadium, but after the Jags go 4-12 with Tebow, no one would renew their tickets. I'm so happy Gene Smith didn't draft a fullback to play QB. Instead Gene Smith did what a general manager should do and drafted who he thought was the best QB in the draft. If I ever see another article of yours, I'll be sure to exit out of the link or throw it away. You are by far a the dumbest sports writer. The Jags beefed up their defense and you rip on Gene Smith for that? Ignorant folks these days. Do the community a favor and retire.

Hey Brandon,
This is the most stupid and mediocre article I've read in my life. In other words inform yourself before writing and go fuck yourself!!
(no name)
Your career: find a new one. You are a moron.
Yes, Alualu was the better pick than Tebow. Get over it.
Why don't you get a self esteem while you are at it. Are you afraid the team isn't as popular as others, or gets less sound bytes on ESPN? BOOHOO.
Move to Denver with that spoiled idiot, who thinks he can call a prayer circle during wonderlic/ snack time/ potty break to a
group of adults. In the real world, pro athletes don't need "leaders" and some little child doesn't take it upon himself to tell everyone else when it's time to pray/kneel/receive a pep talk.
Timmy is one of those people whose faith is much stronger than yours, so he will do the talking, you just sit second chair to him while he speaks to god for you. It's called arrogance.
Thanks for making me vomit in my mouth just thinking about how pathetic you and your like are.
Watch soccer or stop writing.
Oh, and being a Tim Teblow fan has officially been white-trash for two years now. I bet you have pink flamingos in front of your camper.
James Davis
Hope this gives you guys a few laughs like it did me.
