Class of 2018 Recruiting

Post by jusblaze09 on Sun Feb 27, 2011 11:41 pm

New year, new thread. Here are some things to look out for:

SCHOLARSHIP ALLOTMENT FOR C/O 2018

Auburn - 6 Scholarships allowed (17 seniors, 68 on team now, 16 Commitments)

Cal - 5 Scholarships allowed (18 seniors, 70 on team now, 16 Commitments)

Florida - 10 Scholarships allowed (19 seniors, 67 on team now, 15 Commitments)

Florida State - 11 Scholarships allowed (13 seniors, 66 on team now, 9 Commitments)

Miami - 5 Scholarships allowed (14 seniors, 67 on team now, 15 Commitments)

Michigan - 5 Scholarships allowed (15 seniors, 70 on team now, 13 Commitments)

Notre Dame - 8 Scholarships allowed (8 seniors, 67 on team now, 6 Commitments)

Ohio State - 9 Scholarships allowed (11 seniors, 61 on team now, 12 Commitments)

Oklahoma - 8 Scholarships allowed (16 seniors, 66 on team now, 15 Commitments)

Texas - 3 Scholarships allowed (18 seniors, 69 on team now, 19 Commitments)

USC - 1 Scholarship allowed (15 seniors, 68 on team now, 19 Commitments)

At 6'8", 213, Wallace Lloyd come in as the Nation #1 player. The MS ATH runs a 4.6 40 and can get off any block easily. Destined to play in the front 7, Alabama is his early favorite, but don't sleep on Florida and ND who could move up quickly.

Mark Mason has made defenses look silly for three years. With his 4.4 speed, he is the nation's top QB for this class. Top option teams Texas and Florida are his top two, but Oklahoma is right there with them for Mason.

If I had to give a guess on who is the favorite to have the #1 class today, it would be between USC or Texas. Out of 28 5* recruits, over half of them either have the Trojans or Longhorns as their top team. It's a long way to go though, and anything can change.

Im very excited about the starting prospects for this seasons class. That being said after having a number of top targets poached last season we are keeping our nose to the grindstone and praying for the best

Blaze, I'm officially dubbing you the recruiting guru for rivals. If you want to handle the responsibility, you can be in charge of recruiting limitsand stuff like that. Seems like you're pretty interested in that stuff anyway. If it's too much work, I can figure them out real quick.

Yeah, I can sign the full 25 this year, so hopeully I can pull in some talent. Bad news is I don't have a lot of top-name guys sitting on my board right now. I'm going to fight my dick off to sign Mark Mason, so if any of you guys don't want a fight for him, stay away.

I just finished my board and it looks like I'm gonna have to really fight this year for recruits. Bama is back to 6* and it looks like every recruit from the southeast and they mama wanna either go there or Florida. I'm gonna have to battle this year lol.

Lol, it must just be the guys that you're recruiting that want to go to Florida, because my crop is definitely down this year....at least for guys with me No. 1 on their list that I want.

I'll do the scholarship limits when I get home (hova wont be done) and I'll use the numbers from jhawk's rankings to keep track.

Well during our pre-game film session in preparation I was able to hand the duties over to my assistant head coach and make some calls. 4 of our targets committed to us straight away and we are hoping to show them a good game on TV tonight.

First up was Keith Reese, an overachiever type QB from Apple Valley. He is not the biggest guy, but is strong and think for his height, good arm, pocket passer. Will redshirt and sit behind current true sophomore starter Josh Hicks and looks to develop into a quality D1 quarterback.

Next, I got in touch with ATH Jay Ashley. He is a Hawaii boy and was hard to find as apparently he spends most of his time in the water and (hopefully not) getting high. Not a very explosive back but projects as a quality fullback/halfback/te combo. Will redshirt

Third to commit was MLB Anthony Moore, hes an all around very good player with good, but not exceptional, speed, strength, hit power, and block shedding. Will redshirt behind and develop into a quality starter.

Finally we received a fax from the mother of one of our targets saying he was already looking at living arrangements for his Freshman year at USC. Left Tackle Heath Lewis, from Garden Grove CA. Quick for a big guy, very good run blocking strength but needs a year or two to develop before hes ready for the likes of Florida and Notre Dame.

I hope spreading my minutes out more doesnt backfire...we will see. If I can just land 2-3 of those 5 stars I wil lbe happy.
