    LSU Tigers Team Thread

Post by Jaredlib on Sat Jul 21, 2012 6:07 pm

After a long layoff, Coach Pig Benis, under the guise of Les Miles, returns to the College Football realm to try and lead the Tigers through a tough SEC Schedule.

    Updates to come.

    Recruiting:

    5* Josh Bridges - #1 CB
At 5'10, 168 pounds, looks to be another Honey Badger type. Great all around skills.
    5* Jason Reese - #8 WR
Great frame, 6'3, 212 pounds, his size, route running, and acceleration should make him a tough matchup in the intermediate passing game.
    5* Seth King - #8 ATH
6'1, 202 pounds, good size and a nice set of skills. Above average speed, agility, and acceleration. Great arm strength, solid accuracy, also has decent hands with a great set of skills to make things happen with the ball after the catch. Dual Threat player.
    5* Adrian Adams - #2 CB
Said he wanted to play with #1 CB prospect Bridges to form the most feared CB tandem in the SEC one day. Hes fast. He's smart. He loves to hit people.
    5* Tony Rucker - #2 SS
Big and very very strong, insane tackling and block shedding ability. Has he size and skills to be put in multiple spots depending on the formation .
    4* Edmond Green - #10 WR
A slightly smaller, slightly faster version of Reese, should compliment each other as they work their way up the depth chart.
    4* Mike Singleton - #5 MLB
Impressed by his knack for stuffing the run, great burst but lacks raw speed and has a long way to go in coverage. Definitely a redshirt project
    4* Matt Culp - #3 TE
Great looking player, feel like we got a steal with this guy. All around great starting abilities for a TE.
    4* Jason Walker - #6 QB
Huge recruit, 6'3 246, has great speed, good agility/acceleration, very good arm strength, and developing accuracy. Will redshirt and look to develop into a very dangerous dual threat QB
    4* Brandon Mason - #2 G
Mason will help bolster a line that will need help after the departure of a couple seniors this year. Strong, quick, great run blocker.
    4* Chris Taylor - #19 HB
Chris was a huge priority for this coaching staff and had a lot of time poured into him. We were very excited to learn of his intent to enroll at LSU following a neck n neck race with his home-state school, Texas. He's the biggest gem we have found so far, started off projected as a high-60s player and ending up in the low 80s. High 90s speed, agility, acceleration, and elusiveness.
    4* Joe Henderson - #3 G
He's big, he's strong, he blocks like a mfer. We like him.
    4* Lee Brooks - #16 ATH
Very good speed, agility, and acceleration. Very good coverage skills and defensive instincts. Mid 80's arm strength and accuracy as well.
    4* Matt Cooper - #21 ATH
We believe will be the prize of this class. Outstanding speed, great coverage and catching ability. Will play both ways in the slot and all over the defensive secondary.

    Week One - vs. Navy

LSU opened the season with a lackluster 31-6 win over Navy at home. The LSU offense turned the ball over 3x in the first half, hopefully not a sign of things to come.

The Navy offense had to have one of the dumbest, most insanely incompetent performances in recent history. Their QBs seemed content to take off scrambling 2 out of 3 dropbacks and ended up running directly into LSU defenders when they did.

    Players of the game:

    Nobody. This game sucked.

Week 3 - at Virginia Tech

LSU survives a tough but sloppy game vs Virginia Tech. Both teams played ferocious defense and neither team ever got anything going consistently. LSU got on the bird early, kicking a FG after Honey Badger sacked Logan Thomas and forced a fumble in VT territory to make it 3-0. Both teams stalled on ther next posessions, something that fans got used to seeing all game long. Each team put together a nice long drive at one point in the game, both times resulting in FGs, but the score stayed 6-3 in LSU's favor as a perfect pass to the sideline was called incomplete and forced Virgina Tech into a bad situation on offense, finally ending with a pick.

GG Coach Obama. I basically feel the CPU saved my ass this game. I had better rated players and they bailed me out of tough spots.

Week 4 - vs. Ohio State

Having received Coach Ballz bribe in the mail (an assortment of the finest gourmet cheeses) the pollsters allowed LSU to take the #1 spot in the polls. Even though the move makes no sense, it's an EA game, so, I guess it makes plenty of sense. It won't last long anyway. In fact, it barely even lasted a week.

The Buckeyes came into Death Valley sporting a 3-0 record fresh off the heels of a great second half comeback over Tennessee. **I probably should have done a write up last night, my memory is dogshit, but I can get the overall point across**

Basically, OSU dominated the first half. Zack Mettenberger threw three first half INTs, one on an In-Route to his TE that was just perfectly covered by the linebackers, one on a streak trying to lead the WR away from the 1 on 1 coverage, and a third that I can't quite remember. OSU was able to turn those turnovers into points, kicking a field goal in the first quarter and second quarter to make it 6-0 at half-time.

In the second half LSU was able to get a little bit going, but really was never able to land any sort of knockout punch or big play to get them any sort of momentum. The entire game was a defensive struggle. LSU reversed the scoring, kicking a FG in the third quarter, and again in the fourth as time expired from the 3 yard line after the longest drive of the day for LSU, but OSU's defense held and LSU opted for OT instead of going for the win on 4th.

OT started out pretty bland, with both teams kicking 33+ yard field goals. On LSU's second posession, LSY finally found a spark and, for the first time all game, saw some separation from a CB and Mettenberger hit Shepard for a 12 yard TD pass. OSU responded right away, hitting a nice pass to set themselves up with a first and goal and punched it in with a 2 yard run with Jordan Hall.

OSU kicked a field goal to open the third round of overtime. LSU's play of the game then occured as Mettenberger hooked up with Beckham Jr. on a post route that set them up with a first and goal from the 1 yard line. A QB sneak was stuffed on first down, but Copeland took it in to seal the victory.

Coach Les Miles has declined comment regarding allegations of tampering with officials for the Week 3 game against Virginia Tech. The schools athletic director, Craven Moorehead, had this to say to the media on Thursday:

"The truth will set you free, and so will a block of California Chedder. Enjoy the spread folks."

    Week 5 - at Auburn

Auburn tried to bring the noise early, taking advantage of yet another Zach Mettenberger pick to make it 14-14, but LSU started rolling and never looked back. Spencer Ware went for 150 yards and two scores, picking up Player of the Game honors.

The Tigers have rescinded their scholarship offer to 5* athlete Rick Roach. Upon further review of his game film, our scouting department determined there are other, more important prospects to target first, having been made aware 5 weeks into the season of NCAA imposed sanctions on recruiting limits. Recruiting tracker has been updated

LSU has 14 available scholarships to offer this year and have 9 commits. There are 6 more recruits on our horizon, looking to land the five that fit best.

Through some huge dick sucking the Tigers only fall three spots in the polls after a blowout loss against Florida.

LSU bounces back against S. Carolina. Ware had 100 yards rushin and 2 TDs. Mettenberger went for three scores and one INT. Honey Badger had a punt return TD finally.

Final recruit signed officially. In-Season recruiting officially over for LSU.
